Hoodoos can be seen on any continent, but Bryce Canyon is the largest concentration of them found anywhere in the world! To get to Bryce Canyon from Freedom Village, you drive on Scenic Byway 12. A designated All-American road, this route offers unique landscapes and features you won’t find anywhere else.

 

About Bryce Canyon National Park

Most visitors to Bryce Canyon National Park use the 18-mile scenic drive throughout the park. Visiting the drive’s 13 viewpoints looking over multiple amphitheaters. Throughout the park, there are eight maintained and marked hiking trails, that can be hiked in less than a day. More than 400 native plant species live in the park and a wide variety of animals. Bryce Canyon is known for its clear skies. The park holds astronomy programs to view its breathtaking night skies, ranked as one of the darkest in North America. On most days, the air in the park is so clear you can see a view of the Navajo Mountain, 90 miles away in Arizona.

Things To Do In Bryce Canyon National Park

Drive the scenic road throughout the park, and take the time to stop at all 13 lookout points. With astonishing views at each stop, you can easily spend several hours in these areas. From the stops, there are over 50 miles of maintained trails ranging from mild to strenuous, allowing something for everyone. Attend a ranger program such as a rim walk, evening program, daily geology talk, astronomy program, or a full moon hike. Take a horseback ride down into the amphitheater during the summer season. Between April and October take advantage of the park’s shuttle service.

Freedom Village’s Proximity to Bryce Canyon National Park

Bryce Canyon is about a 2.5-hour drive from Freedom Village, it’s approximately 141 miles. A little further than Zion, however, this park is worth the drive. To get to Bryce Canyon, you drive down Scenic Byway 12. This road is designated an All-American road. A distinction only one-third of America’s scenic byways receive. With views and landscapes you can’t find anywhere else in the world, this byway is a destination in itself.
