  1. Zion National Park. Located about 35 minutes northeast of St. George is one of the most beautiful destinations that you can find. The National Park is one of the most popular in the U.S. and it’s hikes and views give a good indication as to why it is so visited by people from all around the world. There are hikes both easy and hard depending on the age range of family members. Angels Landing is a popular hike with it’s steep red cliffs and amazing views of the park from above.   2. Sand Hollow State Park. Sand Hollow is often times referred to as “Mini Lake Powell” by the locals of St. George. This is because of its similarities of beauty from the red rock and water color/temperature. Popular activities at Sand Hollow include: boating, jet skiing, paddle boarding, cliff jumping, fishing and it doesn’t stop there. Even if you don’t have a boat or don’t want to rent one, Sand Hollow has a beach with soft red sand that kids love to play in. There is enough to do for everyone in the family at Sand Hollow.
  3. Tuacahn Amphitheater. Enjoy a nice musical with the whole family as you sit back and relax with one of the most stunning backdrops Utah. Tuacahn Amphitheater is an outdoor performing arts venue set against an amazing backdrop of beautiful red cliffs near Snow Canyon State Park. The outdoor theater produces family-friendly musicals from the months of May-October and has year round events as well. Halloween and Christmas are popular times to attend with the family.
  4. The Children’s Museum. In the heart of downtown St. George, you can find the new 2 floor Children’s Museum located in the historic Dixie Academy Building. For $5 per person, kids can participate in hands-on activities that will keep them entertained and having fun. The Children’s Museum has plenty of activities for kids under the age of 12.   5. Dinosaur Discovery. The St. George Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm is a fun activity for dinosaur lovers of all ages. The family-friendly museum was constructed in the 2000’s when a large amount of dinosaur tracks, skin prints, swim tracks, and tail drags were discovered. Amongst the boardwalk where you will walk and learn about the different ways the dinosaurs behaved, you will find a display room with plenty of activities for the children.   6. Fiesta Family Fun Center – The hub for all things entertaining, Fiesta Fun offers a variety of activities that the whole family can enjoy. From mini golf, bowling, and arcade games, to laser tag, go-karts, and water boats, you and your kids will have a blast. Grab some grub at the Barre Grill to satisfy any snacking moods as well.
  7. Pioneer Park – St. George is known for its convenient location to some of the best hiking in the state. Besides the national parks, there are some pretty fun hikes to do right in town as well. Pioneer Park is located at the top of Red Hills Parkway and offers some of the best views of the entire town. The sandstone hills are fun to romp around, including the famous Dixie Rock that overlooks the city. Crawl through the “Narrows” or discover an old home in the outcropping of a cave. This geographic wonderland never grows old and is the perfect place for kids to run around.
  8. Washington City Community Center – The community recreation center is a gem in the city of Washington. With a large pool system, including playground and slide, the aquatic center offers a splash of fun for the kids on a hot Southern Utah day.
  9. Snow Canyon State Park – For those looking for unforgettable hiking experiences but shy away from the crowds of Zion, Snow Canyon State Park is an amazing alternative. Just outside the city limits, these beautiful red and white sandstone canyons offer stunning hikes and an alien landscape to roam through. A favorite among visitors are the red sand dunes in the middle of the park. Take the kids out for a sandy adventure in this lesser known, but just as incredible, state park.
  10. St. George Bike Trail System – One of the many unique features of St. George are the paved bike trails that range throughout the city. The network of trails lead to convenient places and offer different views of St. George not seen from the streets.
